The university of Texas at Austin is one the institutions that the Reeder-Sanders-Ciccarello Scholarship foundation intends to build strong links with to provide world-class educational opportunities to students from Africa. Alfajiri, is the first scholarship created by the foundation. It aims to help a promising student from Kenya attain a college education. The scholarship recipient will also help to create opportunities for other students by participating in the foundations unique pay-it-forward approach to philanthropy. The first recipient of the scholarship is John Kidenda a student at the University of Texas at Austin.
He is currently at the McCombs school of business and is eager to persue a career in the financial industry after graduating. Through the RSC foundation, John hopes to not only be able to graduate from college but to play a major role in enabling others from his country to follow in his footsteps. He has had an illustrious college career taking an active part in school activities through organizations like the UT Student Govenment while maintaining high grades that have earned him two internships at a major wall street firm.
